One Turtle and all the Rubbish - Environmental Education Storybook

Fano the turtle is worried by all the rubbish in her ocean home. She goes on an adventure through the bay, asking her friends in the mangroves, seagrass and coral reef, 'do you know why rubbish is bad for the ocean’? She learns a lot, but also faces great danger. Can she bring community-based solutions to the village in order to save her ocean home?

‘One turtle and all the rubbish’ is the first ever environmental education storybook that I illustrated and wrote in my series, Zara Loko, for primary schools in Madagascar. Created in 2018, this hand-drawn watercolour and pencil storybook covers the topics of plastic pollution, bioaccumulation, the threat of plastic bags to turtles, as well as sustainable community-lead solutions.
